Healthy eating ideas for your kids
Life is so busy and filled with so many to-do’s that we often
feel like we are not getting to everything. One of the things that we neglect is nutrition. Due to our busy lifestyles we often opt for the quick and easy route, unfortunately that is not always the best choice to make.
When we have little ones in the house it is so easy to quickly grab a ready-meal in the freezer when our evening routine does not go according to plan. Please don’t judge each other – we have all done it before, at least once. Or even worse, grabbing a packet of 2-min noodles… We make ourselves feel better by thinking… ”It’s pasta, how bad can it be”? Well, those little “convenient” packets are filled with salt, preservatives. msg and other nasty’s.
Nowadays our kids get exposed to so many of these unwanted ingredients in our food that it can feel overwhelming trying to give them more healthier alternatives to eat.
Don’t let this feeling get you under. Making food from scratch can be a bit time consuming, but it is so worth it in the end.
Choose recipes that you can freeze or make ahead of time. For example, whip up a batch of muffins and add finely grated veggies. Your kids will never know the difference and yet, the muffin they are enjoying with a glass of milk for lunch will be packed with good nutrients.
Try to avoid breakfast cereals. This is a small change that can make a world of difference. You can cook a batch of oats over the weekend and freeze away portions just enough for each weekday morning. Or make overnight-oats.** recipe below. This will save you lots of time and you will be at peace knowing that your kids had a healthy breakfast that will help them through their school day.
Swop unhealthy snacks with something like nuts, fruit, cucumber/carrot sticks, biltong etc. Why not make mini meatballs or your own crumbed chicken strips? These are only a few simple ideas. When you search “healthy snacks for kids” on a website like Pintrest you will be blown away by all the easy possibilities and alternatives.
Our range of products are also there to help make this healthier transition easier.
Have a read on our website about the “Benefits of Magnesium Sulphate”. When it comes to preservatives/ additives that we find in our food, the body struggles to break it down and get rid of it and this causes kids to be wrestless, hyped up and not sleep well. When increasing your magnesium sulphate levels, it can trigger your body into detox and help get rid of all these nasty ingredients.
By adding our bath salts to your daily bath, it will help kick start your body to become a healthier, stronger version by getting rid of all these unwanted ingredients.
** Overnight Oats:
Take a 1/4 cup of dry oats (per person) and place in a bowl.
Pour over enough milk to cover the oats.
Add a pinch of cocoa powder, a teaspoon of honey, some nuts, cranberries or even finely chopped up apple. Peanut buttre works well too. Mix well.
Cover with clingwrap and leave in the fridge overnight.
In the morning, remove the clingwrap, serve as is and enjoy!
My kids LOVE IT!
