The best way to spend your time ... is with your kids!
Some of you might agree with me, others maybe not…. but in my opinion, the best way to make your kids happy… is to spend more time with them. Not just any time… QUALITY time.
With the school holidays upon us, now is the perfect time to do just that. Spend time with your children.
Be present while doing so. Put your phone, tablet or laptop away and gather the little ones and decide what they want to do for the next hour or so. Most important of all, give them your undivided attention. If you spend this time with them every day, they will remember these times, not the disagreements you had earlier in the morning or the outing to the shopping mall, but these precious moments they spent with their parents.
Laughing, playing, riding their bicycles, singing songs together etc.
By spending time with our children, it assures them that we care about them and will always be there for them. Life is very busy for both parents & children. But we all need to make that extra effort to buy that time out for our kids, set aside the rules and just have fun together.
Here are a few ideas on what to do:
Dust off one of your board games and gather the family around the dinner table with some snacks.
Explore your creativity by painting a picture together or get the cookie cutters and clay for endless fun.
Sit on the floor in your kids’ room and let them take charge and tell you what to play with and how. Let their imagination go wild and just follow their lead.
Build a fort or castle made of boxes and play pretend in your living room. Be the King or the villain but remember to let them be in charge of their imagination.
Grab the soccer ball or cricket bat and get active outside.
Go for a walk in the park or along the beach – this is a great way to get rid of all that excess energy.
Spending time with your family will never be something that you will look back at later in life and say: “I wish I spent my time differently”. It is something that you will never regret. Make the most of your holiday time together and create an unwavering bond between you and your children.
