How do I play with my children?
Have you ever thought about it? How often does your kids ask you to play with them?
And if they do, what is your response?
When your child asks you to play with them, they are actually asking you, in their own little way, to spend some time with them. They want you to show them that they matter and that they are important to you.
The chores around the house can wait, the dishes can wait, your boss can wait. All they are asking for, is a few minutes. That's it!
But how do you do it? How do you play?
Making sure that phone is far out of reach and there is no distractions like the tv, your laptop etc. Sit down with your kid and just relax. Ask them what they want to do and they will quickly welcome you into their fantasy land. Let them take the lead and make up the rules as you go along. For just that short moment, give them the opportunity to be in charge. It will make them feel so important and special.
Here are a few ideas on how to be playful and to just enjoy each other:
Have a tickle fight.
Colour with sidewalk chalk.
Have a dance party.
Look at the clouds together.
Draw / Colour in together.
Play Lego.
Have a tea party.
Do an obstacle course together.

Enjoying these moments with your children will leave everlasting memories with them and with you. Make each moment count!
To add some extra family time, why not ask Dad to also join in on the fun. This way, you all get to spend some quality time together and have loads of fun.
